Functional Skills

Functional English, Maths and ICT taught in a variety of contexts and applied in different real life situations

Sensory English, Maths and ICT taught in a variety of contexts

Accreditation can be gained at Diploma level through the ASDAN Entry 1 Qualification in Personal Progress or through English, Maths and ICT units within City and Guilds Skills for Working Life Entry 2 and 3 at Certificate level

Personal and Social development

Taught discretely each week then applied in different ‘real life’ contexts with the addition of meal preparation

Accreditation can be gained at Diploma level through the ASDAN Entry 1 Qualification in Personal Progress or through City and Guilds PSD units Entry 2 and 3 at Certificate level

Vocational Learning

Learners choose 2 options for each academic year. Options will change each year depending on students’ interests

Work placements begin in one vocational area where deemed appropriate to the individual

Learning is accredited through a Certificate in City and Guilds Skills for the Working Life for students working at Entry2 and 3

Learning is accredited through ASDAN Entry 1 Qualification in Personal Progress for learners working within P Levels at Diploma level

Students for whom, doing placements would not be suitable would continue their development through vocational option choices

Sport and Leisure

A variety of activities offered catering for all the students’ needs. These include gym club, physiotherapy, swimming, hydrotherapy, ten pin bowling, tag rugby, visits to sports facilities, yoga

Each half term a choice of two Enrichment activities are offered to the students. These develop skills in the community, relationships and personal interests

Creativity

Taught each week through the mediums of art, music and drama
